If a mare or jenny does not become pregnant within the third cycle and is scanned at 13-15 days and is found not to have conceived, we highly recommend a culture and biopsy to isolate the problem. Note that not all pregnancies will carry to parturition. We suggest asking your veterinarian to check progesterone levels because some mares and jennies will need oral progesterones to keep a pregnancy. It is also crucial that every breeding farm have a good vaccination and nutritional program for their mares and jennies. |
